Auto Hide Desktop Icons After A Preset Time

Many of you don’t like too many folders on your computer desktop, so do I. While working on Windows PC, I download a lot of things from the web and place them all on my desktop for quick access, as I need them very often. That’s why I’ve too many files like text files, image files, application shortcuts and folders on my desktop.

I really enjoy changing things up on my desktop, and I keep changing my desktop background every now and then. The problem is that too many files and folder hides the beautiful wallpaper. Today I’ve found an awesome application that will help me get rid of this problem, and I thought of sharing with you. The portable application will hide all the files on the desktop and bring back all with a simple mouse click anywhere on the desktop. I’ve been looking for this kind of tool for a long time.
Thanks to AutoHideDesktopIcons, I can now see my beautiful wallpapers without having to delete all my icons on the desktop. There are lot of similar kinds of tools available on the web, but what makes this tool stand different is that it uses an adjustable timer. When you launch the tool, it will start the timer and hide the desktop icons. To bring back all the files on the desktop, simply left/right mouse click anywhere on the desktop, and it will again hide the icons after an amount of time you set in the settings.

Now lets take a look at the settings and how to configure this application. As you can see in the screenshot above, there are lot of options available in the left, such as to disable, start with Windows, hide taskbar etc. You can set the timer to hide desktop icons and taskbar through the slider (Minimum 3 – Maximum 100). In the right side, it allows you to select which mouse button to use to display the hidden desktop icons
It’s a portable application (requires no installation). There is no such way to exit the application. Instead, a ‘Disable’ option is provided in the preference settings. It’s a must have tool on your desktop if you love enjoying desktop wallpapers in full bloom. You can download ‘AutoHideDesktopIcons from this link (works on all versions of Windows).
